Introduction to Guitar Craft & International Guitar Orchestra XII

One week to play, learn, create, and discover a different way of experiencing the guitar.

Música en Movimiento invites guitarists from around the world to join a new residential gathering dedicated to an Introduction to Guitar Craft and The International Guitar Orchestra.

Open to guitarists of all levels, the gathering offers an opportunity to explore the guitar through technique, listening, movement, composition, performance, and collective practice.

No previous experience required

It is open to all levels of experience with the intrument, from beginers to professionals

During the gathering, participants will be introduced to the Guitar Craft Tuning, the Guitar Circle, and the practice of Guitar Orchestra.

We will work on the fundamental techniques of both hands, developing the precision, listening, coordination, and awareness needed to play as part of an ensemble.

The work is based on steel-string acoustic guitars played with a pick.

For experienced participants, the gathering will provide an opportunity to deepen an established practice, develop repertoire, and prepare for further work with The League of Crafty Guitarists.

Much more than playing guitar

Guitar Craft is not only about how we play. It is also about how we listen, move, work together, and pay attention.

Alongside guitar practice, the program includes:

Morning Sitting · Calisthenics · Feldenkrais · Anatomy & Movement · Composition · Performance · Tai Chi Chuan · Qi Gong · Kitchen / House Craft

The aim is to develop a deeper integration of mind, hands, and heart — as musicians and as human beings.

The gathering will be coordinated by Luciano Pietrafesa, Michael Grenfell, Fernando Kabusacki, Steve Ball, Marcela Diez, and Valentina Fusari, together with practitioners and professionals from different disciplines.

The International Guitar Orchestra will also perform live at selected venues across Mendoza Province.

Preparing for the residential

The residential gathering will be preceded by an At-a-Distance (AAD) program during the weeks leading up to December.

Online meetings and study materials will introduce and develop the work in advance, helping participants arrive in Mendoza prepared for the residential experience.

Participation in the AAD program is highly recommended for anyone planning to attend the residential.

Itinerary

Monday 7th of December: arrivals in the afternoon.
Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th of December: International Guitar Orchestra XII public presentations.
Sunday 13th of December: departures at noon.
