Tuesday 23rd to Sunday 28th of June, 2026
Villa Elisa, Buenos Aires, Argentina
This Introductory and Residential Performance Gathering is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
No prior experience is required for the Introduction:
Our work here will introduce the Guitar Craft Tuning, an introduction to the Guitar Circle and Orchestra and the presentation of fundamental principles of the use of both hands on the
guitar.
Our aim is to develop and extend our relationship to our guitars, music, and ourselves.
This residential is also an opportunity for those who have some prior experience in GC and MeM to continue working in this context: review, reconnect, develop and expand.
Work will be on steel-string acoustic guitars, using a pick.
For those with an established practice and more experience attending the Música en Movimiento International Guitar Orchestra XI, our aim for the course is to develop skills and Orchestra repertoire still further. The latter will include new participant compositions and selected GC Themes in preparation for work with the League of Crafty Guitarists.
The League work will involve in-depth and detailed study of GC themes and related repertoire and techniques. The focus here will be on necessary guitar mechanics for reliability and tonality. These Themes will support our work together and deepen our awareness and integration of heads, hands and heart – as musicians and for us to take more broadly into our everyday lives.
All the associate GC/ MeM areas of work will also be present: Kitchen/ House Craft, Morning Sitting/ Exercises, Calisthenics, personal work / Themes, Body work, composition, performance.
Our work will be co-ordinated by Luciano Pietrafesa, Fernando Kabusacki, Michael Grenfell, Marcela Diez, Valentina Fusari, Claudio Lafalce and Ignacio Gracián hosted by Música en Movimiento with the local support of MEM La Plata / Buenos Aires.
Marcela Diez Leys, Feldenkrais instructor from the Euro-TAB (The European Training Accreditation Board) and Ignacio Gracián, Alexander Technic Instructor will present the principles of the Techniques. Valentina Fusari, choreographer, dancer and licensed kinesiologist (Mendoza University) will present Flexibility in Motion and Anatomy concepts. Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong practice will also be available.
This is an opportunity to develop and deepen our skills, knowledge and experience in a range of contexts. We will discover where we are and give individual attention to specific group and individual needs.
The work of the Orchestra will be presented in a public performance on Saturday 27th at the Cathedral of Chascomús.
NB: Please note that the residential course will be preceded by an At-a-Distance course in the weeks before. Monthly meetings here will be complemented by other on-line meetings and materials, which will prepare us for the residential. We see this AAD as highly recommended for those intending to attend the residential. Please see details of the AAD HERE.
